The ecosystem service resource provision refers to provisioning services as classified in the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (2005). It encompasses the provision of commodities and raw materials such as food, timber or clean water. The characteristic usages of river corridors, namely fishing, forestry, agriculture, hydropower, drinking water and waterways, are dealt with in this module. The main objective of the RESI-Module 5 is to assess the current state of existing provisioning services for the model regions, as well as to determine or develop function-based indicators for the quantification and operationalisation of these services. On this basis, changes in the provision of ecosystem services arising due to alternative management practices, as well as conflicting goals between different usages and ecosystem services, can be mapped (trade-off analysis).
